ACNE
INTRODUCTION
Not just among teenagers but also in adults' acne has been an issue. Before starting I want to clarify one thing that I am not a professional. In this blog, I will discuss what is acne? how it happens? and types of acne. One more thing, being a college student I have seen so many friends feeling uncomfortable and hating themself for the way they look because of acne. You should be mature enough to understand that just because of Acne you can not hate yourself, having acne is just a drawback you have. And this can be tackled. It may take some time but, don't you think you deserve some time for yourself. So let's dig into it with the intention that you will cure it.
WHAT IS ACNE & HOW IT HAPPEN
To lubricate our body we have sebaceous glands, which is located just under the skin. The role of sebaceous is to secrete an oily substance called sebum which coat hair and skin to prevent it from dryness. Sebum travels up hair follicles and out through the pores onto the surface of the skin.
Hair follicles routinely shed dead skin cells that sebum carries with themselves. When extra sebum and dry skin cell is produced by our body, they clogged the pores and result in skin blemishes. The bacteria, which is normally on everyone's skin in a small amount may get flourished in the sebum in clogged pores leading to inflammation which are called acne. They are of many types.
TYPES OF ACNE-
- WHITEHEAD- When clogged pores get closed and have no access to come in contact with air they remain white and known as whiteheads. They generally occur on the forehead and chin area. They can be easily treated.
- BLACKHEAD- Blackhead is similar to Whitehead. the only difference is, in blackheads clogged pores come in contact with air and turn black. They generally occur near the nose area, on the nose. they can be easily treated.
- PAPULES (commonly known as pimples)- They are pink or red in color. they are bigger than blackheads and Whiteheads and filled with fluid. They can be easily treated. Consult your dermatologist, usually, they prescribe skin lotion.
- PUSTULES (also known as bigger pimples)- Like papules, it is also red or pink in color. These are larger than papules. It forms when papules become large or swell. It takes a little longer to treat. Always consult your dermatologist.
- CYSTS- These are bigger and painful. they are big lumps filled with pus. They are soft and red in color. They occur from the deep layer of skin. It takes way longer to treat. If you also have a cyst then please consult your dermatologist as soon as possible.
- NODULES- These are even bigger and painful than cysts. They form when blocked pores are more damaged, which makes them grow bigger and formed through a deep layer of skin. Nodules are hard. Definitely consult your dermatologist.
ADVISE
The most important advice is to consult your dermatologist especially if you are suffering from pustules, cysts, and nodules. Blackhead and whitehead can be removed by scrubbing your face or using nose strips but if still, you cannot find relief in your then consult a dermatologist. Papules ( pimples) commonly get cure on his own but if you have a lot of pimples and you cannot get rid of it then do consult a skin doctor. Chance your diet and eat more water contained food like fruits and vegetables.
Always keep your pillow and bedsheet clean as when you sleep they can come in contact with your face, and if your bedsheet or pillow is filled with germs and bacteria it will clog your pores and lead to acne (trust me it gives amazing results . I have also tried this.). Keep a separate towel for your face and keep it clean, so that your skin remains germs and bacteria-free. Make a habit to clean your phone whenever you can, as the phone always comes in contact with your face.
